LINKAdvisors

Bookkeeping is done by LINK Books.

Not a referral to a stranger, and not an accountant squeezing the books in around tax returns. LINK Books is the group's bookkeeping and payroll business - a separate company, in the same building, working on the same file as your accountant. This page is the short version; the full detail lives on their site.

What they do.

The everyday work that has to happen before an accountant can do anything useful.

The day-to-day books

Bank reconciliation, coding, accounts payable, invoicing and debtor chasing - at whatever rhythm the business actually needs, from monthly to weekly.

Payroll

Pay runs, superannuation, Single Touch Payroll and the award questions that come with employing people, handled by people who do it every week.

BAS and IAS

Prepared and lodged on your cycle, from the same file the accounting comes out of - so the BAS and the year-end agree with each other.

Catching up

A file that is months or years behind is quoted as a fixed one-off and brought current, rather than absorbed quietly into a monthly fee.

How it works with your accounting.

The reason the group is built this way is that the two jobs are genuinely different, and doing them in one place stops the handover being someone else's problem.

One file, not two

Your bookkeeper and your accountant are in the same Xero file. Nothing gets exported, emailed and re-imported, and nobody asks you to send a backup.

Two fees, deliberately

Bookkeeping is quoted on its own rather than buried in your accounting fee. You can see what each one costs, and you can change one without renegotiating the other.

One conversation

When something in the books raises a tax or structure question, it goes down the hall the same day instead of waiting for year end to surface it.

Frequently asked questions.

Is LINK Books the same company as LINK Advisors?

Separate businesses in the same group, in the same building, run by the same people. LINK Advisors is the accounting and tax practice; LINK Books is the bookkeeping and payroll business. You can use one without the other.

Why are they separate rather than one firm?

Two reasons, and both are in your favour. It means you can see what the accounting actually costs rather than having bookkeeping folded invisibly into a single number. And it means bookkeeping is done by people who do only that, all day, rather than by an accountant fitting it around tax returns.

Do I have to use LINK Books if LINK Advisors does my accounting?

No. Plenty of our clients have a bookkeeper they are happy with, or do the books themselves, and that works perfectly well. We will tell you if the file is causing problems, but we are not going to insist you move it.

What does it cost?

It is quoted separately from your accounting fee, on the size of the job rather than the size of the business. LINK Books publishes its own estimator and its own price ranges - the link is on this page.

Do I have to explain everything twice?

No, and that is most of the point. Same building, same file, same conversation. If your bookkeeper spots something that needs an accountant, they walk down the hall rather than emailing a stranger.

Want the books handled too?

LINK Books quotes it on the size of the job, with its own estimator and its own published ranges.
