Now that the first phase of JobKeeper is finished, all businesses need to take action in Xero whether or not they are eligible for the JobKeeper Extension.
If you haven’t already, make sure you refer to our guide on what you need to do in Xero as an employer here. We’ve detailed what you need to do if;
- you are continuing on the JobKeeper Extension, OR
- you are not eligible for the JobKeeper extension
We’re seeing a lot of instances where Pay Runs from October 2020 onwards are not able to be successfully filed via STP because;
- Employees who are eligible for the JobKeeper Extension do not have the appropriate payment tier set in Xero, OR
- Employees who are no longer eligible have not been marked as ‘Stopped’ for JobKeeper in Xero
If you see an email like this below from Xero, you’ll need to take immediate action as per our guide. Its quick and easy, but needs to be done ASAP.
Ensure that all your pay runs in Xero have been successfully filed with the ATO via STP as in the image below. There should be no pay runs with the status of Overdue or Filing Error.
