What is the epic new Exporting Grant for Queenslanders?

What is the epic new Exporting Grant for Queenslanders (1)

As of Monday, a new grants program has opened aimed at helping Queensland export businesses better sell their products online to overseas customers. The new E-commerce Grants Program of up to $10,000 (total value of grants to approve is $400,000) is available for Queensland Exporters that already have an E-commerce deal but want to improve their online activity.

Anastacia Palaszczuk has stated that this is part of the State Government’s economic recovery plan and wants to help Queenslanders take advantage of the E-commerce boom that is currently occurring.

She stated that although “COVID-19 impacted the global economy and has brought substantial challenges to export businesses including increases in air-freight costs and lower availability of those services, E-commerce is booming all over the world…so there’s an opportunity for Queensland exporters to use e-commerce to achieve higher returns.”

The grant will be administered by the government’s global business agency Trade and Investment Queensland (TIQ).

There has been a brilliant case study already noted by the State Government of Manbulloo, a Townsville based mango grower. They had to turn to e-commerce over the past 5 years due to limited availability and increasing costs of air freight. They have stated that E-commerce leads form part of their competitive advantage, leading to them distributing mangoes through digital channels in Korea, China, Canada, and the USA.

This increasing use of E-commerce leads to a variety of positives for businesses, such as the ability to receive direct feedback and engaging with customers in real time. Along with this, consumers tend to pay more because of the convenience of buying online.

The list of why utilising E-commerce is mandatory continues to grow, and if you are in the market of selling products, you should strongly be considering your position in this space.
