The Queensland Government has announced a $4 billion stimulus package recently, which includes Payroll Tax Relief for those business liable for Payroll Tax.
If you are registered for Payroll Tax in Queensland, you can receive the following:
- A refund of your payroll tax for July and August
- The ability to apply for a deferral of payroll tax for until the earliest being 7 April 2021 (please review the table below for lodgement and their corresponding deferral dates)
Please note that the deferral application due date is due by 30 October 2020.

For those employers who a registered to pay payroll tax, you will be receiving an email from the Office of State Revenue, detailing the application process.
Please note that if you received a payroll tax holiday/refund previously, these amounts don’t have to be repaid.

Where do I go from here?
Once applications have been processed, the Office of State Revenue will be sending out an email with instructions on what you as an employer need to do.
You must continue to lodge your payroll tax returns as usual within the OSRConnect platform, although you are not required to make payments in relation to these returns.
